CNP said that infrastructure debt “offers interesting alternative investment opportunities with the benefit of greater asset portfolio diversification and an attractive risk-return profile.”
Under the terms of the partnership agreement, Natixis will be responsible for originating infrastructure deals and presenting them to CNP, which will then review the suggestions.
CNP plans to make investments of between €50m and €150m with Natixis retaining a “significant portion” of each deal.
Natixis said, “With this new partnership with CNP Assurances, Natixis together with its partners now has the capacity to commit significant amounts to the financing of infrastructure projects across Europe.
“Natixis will pursue the development of its infrastructure debt platform on other selected currencies.”
Last month Natixis expanded its private equity business by picking up a controlling stake in Switzerland-based fund of funds Euro Private Equity.
