Monomoy teams with Kingsmoor to buy Wrangler-supplying denim mills

plains cotton monomoyMonomoy Capital Partners has teamed up with investment group Kingsmoor to buy denim mills which supply brands such as Wrangler from Plains Cotton Cooperative Association.

The New York-based buyout house and Kingsmoor bought the asset through their newly-created AmTex vehicle.

The company will convert raw cotton into denim fabric at the Texas textile mill and convert denim fabric into finished jeans at the Denimatrix cut, sew and laundry operation in Guatemala.

More than 2,400 people are employed at the two facilities, making it one the largest denim manufacturing operations in the Western Hemisphere.

Monomoy made its investment in AmTex through its second fund vehicle, Monomoy Capital Partners II, which it closed on its $400m hard cap in 2011.
