Mexican healthcare IT business HDS secures $25m investment from Northgate


mexico_flag_170sqPrivate equity firm Northgate Capital has invested $25m in Mexican healthcare IT business Health Digital Systems SAPI de CV, to fund its international expansion and accelerate its product development.

HDS’ technology enables users to access, monitor, and share medical data over a secure online network in real time.

Last month Northgate backed a $16.5m Series E round for genomics tool company RainDance alongside GE Ventures.

According to a recent report form Mercom Capital, venture capital investment in the healthcare IT sector nearly doubled last year.

Venture capital investments climbed to $2.2bn last year from $1.2bn in 2012, bringing the total raised by healthcare IT companies since 2010 to over $4bn.
