Mass data company Amplidata secures $11m in Intel-led round

data storage_lrgIntel’s venture capital arm has led an $11m funding round for Amplidata, which brought the Belgian data storage technology company’s fundraising total to $33m.

Venture capital firms Endeavor Vision, Hummingbird Ventures, Quantum, and Swisscom Ventures also participated in the round.

Amplidata will use the funds to step up its sales and marketing efforts and invest in its research and development team.

Intel Capital’s investment director Ian Cooper said, “With no end in sight to the massive growth of data and the ever increasing value of that data, organizations need a cost effective way to manage and scale their storage solutions.

“Amplidata is well positioned to take advantage of the growing demand for object-based storage running on commercial-off-the-shelf hardware.”

Intel participated in Amplidata’s $8m round two years ago alongside Big Bang Ventures, Endeavour Vision and Swisscom.
