28 Oct 2013

bergLondon-based technology startup Berg has raised $1.3m in a funding round backed by Connect Ventures, Index Ventures and Initial Capital.

The company also said that its platform for connected devices Berg Cloud is now available.

It noted that total corporate profits from connected devices are set to top $613bn this year, according to a recent report from Cisco. Berg’s own research showed that of the design and technology Kickstarter projects successfully funded for over $0.5m, 30 per cent were for connected devices.

Berg CEO Matt Webb said, “Our mission with BERG Cloud is to make it as easy to develop hardware as it is to develop for the web. BERG Cloud provides solutions to the common problems of connected devices, allowing you to focus on what matters: product innovation and delightful user experience.

“We built this platform to make it easier for our own designers to invent and operate connected products themselves. Now we are making it available to everyone.”

Last week Index participated in a $35m round for Outbrain, which was led by HarbourVest Partners.

The firm is investing from its Index Ventures VI fund, which was closed with commitments of €350m last year.
