KKR bags Internet Brands from Hellman & Friedman, JMI Equity

Computer_software_techUS buyout major KKR has agreed to buy Internet Brands from fellow private equity houses Hellman & Friedman and JMI Equity.

The company, which provides online media and software services, will also see chief executive Bob Brisco hold a minority stake in the business following the deal.

KKR tech team co-head Herald Chen said, “Internet Brands is at an exciting inflection point of growth as the company transitions from a portfolio of web assets to a vertically integrated provider of media and client software solutions.

“Its growth has been driven by its propriety operating platform and a management team with a focused vision.”

Internet Brands operates brands including auto tech and data provider Autodata Solutions, medical professional websites Officite, iMatrix and TherapySites, and frequent flier community FlyerTalk.

KKR has a long history of successfully investing in market leading businesses in technology, including recent investments in Go Daddy, Mitchell, Aceco TI, Visma, Fotolia, and Ipreo.
