5 Nov 2012

High Tech Gründerfonds has joined Seedfonds Baden-Wuerttemberg and private investor Günter Lang to make an investment in German robotics company Synapticon.

The company develops and provides embedded computing and control systems for robots such as unmanned vehicles and those used in automated industry.

Synapticon said it planned to use the investment for R&D, setting up and expanding customer support and increase its service capacity.

Seedfonds co-operates with HTGF to support young technology companies headquartered in Baden-Wuerttemberg during the early founding or seed phase by providing venture capital.

HTGF investment manager Benjamin Erhart said, “We are convinced that the company has significant growth potential due to its know-how and the exciting market environment.

“We are happy to support this talented team as it enters the market.”

Günter Lang, an engineer and experienced entrepreneur in the field of engineering and automation for the process and manufacturing industry, said, “The special appeal, but at the same time the challenge of Synapticon is to be able to provide comprehensive engineering beyond the mere development of hardware and software.”

“This makes it possible to not only offer the client products, but to also complete their tasks in a holistic and integrated manner if necessary.

“What made me commit to Synapticon is that I trust the highly motivated team with its broad knowledge to handle the resulting challenges.”

Last month HGTF and Fraunhofer Ventures took part in the second financing round for easy access data business ConWeaver.

The funding round, believed to be just under €1m, was also supported by entrepreneur Martin Shefter through his holding company Shefter Capital.
