Goldman Sachs invests $135m in Indian wind developer ReNew Power

A private equity investment fund managed by Goldman Sachs has committed $135m to Indian wind power developer ReNew Power.

The investment comes as follow-on financing after Goldman allocated $200m to the business two years ago, according to India’s Economic Times.

Ankur Sahu, co-head of Goldman Sachs’ private equity business in Asia, said that across its private equity funds Goldman has invested $2bn in capital since 2006 into India.

Renew Power plans to develop 1GW of renewable energy projects by 2015. The first is a 25MW project in Jasdan, Rajkot in Gujarat that was on 29 March 2012.
