Electra Partners seals third 2014 deal with audio mixing console company Calrec

CalrecUK-based private equity firm Electra Partners has bought audio mixing console manufacturer Calrec from D&M Holdings for £14m.

Electra provided both equity and debt for the deal, which will see Calrec become a sister company to its 2013 acquisition Allen & Heath.

The company, which makes equipment primarily used for sports broadcasts and other live events, has clients including the BBC, Al Jazeera, CBS and Sky.

Electra investment partner Charles Elkington said, “We are delighted to have funded the acquisition of Calrec.

“Part of our investment strategy when investing in Allen & Heath was to acquire additional businesses in the audio sector in order to create a group of market leading professional audio mixing brands.

“We look forward to working with Roger Henderson and his team to continue to invest in developing new products for Calrec’s customers.”

The deal is Electra’s third this year following an £85m investment in Hotter Shoes in January and £83m backing of Ogier Fiduciary Services last month.
