29 Jul 2014

cloudVenture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson and its European affiliate have co-led a $14.5m Series B round for cluster management software provider Bright Computing.

Existing investor ING Corporate Investments joined DFJ and DFJ Esprit in the round.

Bright Computing provides management software for clusters and clouds used in high performance computing, storage, databases, Hadoop, and OpenStack.

The company said it will use the funds to invest in cluster management technology, focusing especially on the emerging Hadoop and OpenStack ecosystems.

DFJ partner Bill Bryant said, “Bright manages many of the world’s most complex environments in technology, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, government labs, universities and financial services. With support now for Hadoop and OpenStack, the company has an enormous opportunity.”

Earlier this month DFJ invested in food safety compliance startup icix through its $25m Series C funding round.
