CVC Capital Partners is reportedly in talks for a $2bn buyout of hairdryer maker Conair alongside Spectrum Brands Holdings.
The companies are hoping to reach an agreement within weeks according to Bloomberg, which cited unnamed people it said were familiar with the matter.
Conair, which was founded in 1959, specialises in hairdryers, styling irons, hair clippers, beard trimmers and power massagers, among other products.
Spectrum already owns the Remington brand of shavers alongside other small electricals businesses including George Foreman and Russell Hobbs.
Earlier this week CVC agreed to sell AI-driven fraud prevention and digital identity business Kount to Equifax in a $640m deal.
