Charterhouse seeks private equity exit for Card Factory


UK-based private equity firm Charterhouse Capital Partners is looking to sell retail chain Card Factory to private equity acquirers.

Bidders are thought to include Cinven, Advent International, KKR and Clayton Dubilier & Rice, The Telegraph reported. The sale could fetch over £500m, it said.

In June it was reported that was looking at a potential £700m IPO, as well as considering a refinancing.

Charterhouse bought the UK retail chain, which has 650 stores, in March 2010 in a deal thought to be worth close to £350m.

Earlier this year AltAssets reported that Charterhouse was considering a 12 month extension to the investment period of its €4bn ninth fund.
