Global venture capital firm Canaan Partners has added former Kapor Capital executive and Cubetree co-founder Ross Fubini as a venture partner.
Fubini has over 15 years’ experience as a founder, technology executive, investor and startup advisor and will play an integral role in identifying and backing early-stage technology deals at Canaan, the firm said in a statement released today.
Prior to joining Canaan, Fubini was a partner at seed-stage technology investment firm Kapor, where he led deals in Piazza, CitrusLane, GingerIO, KarmaLoop, ElationEMR, Omada Health and HealthLoop.
He has also served as an advisor to several high-growth technology companies, including Palantir Technologies, now a large private company valued at nearly $4bn, and Facebook Causes.
He previously co-founded and grew Cubetree, an enterprise social collaboration company, which was acquired by SuccessFactors in 2010 and where he then served as a vice president.
He also served as a senior director of engineering at Symantec, where he was in charge of product development for anti-spam, anti-virus and content filtering product lines.
Before that he held technical leadership roles at BEA/Plumtree, TellMe Networks and Netscape.
The appointment follows the raising of Canaan’s ninth fund, which closed in January this year with $600m of commitments to invest in digital media, consumer Internet, enterprise, mobile, biopharmaceuticals and healthcare infrastructure companies.
The firm, which has offices in Silicon Valley, New York, Israel and India, has recently backed companies including UrbanSitter, TheRealReal, borro, Instacart, adverCar and CytomX Therapeutics.
