BC Partners in early talks to seal Com Hem IPO

TV television cableEuropean private equity major BC Partners has reportedly held preliminary talks with the management of Sweden’s largest cable operator Com Hem about a potential IPO.

BC bought Com Hem in a $2.6bn deal from Carlyle and Providence Equity Partners in 2011, and is in the early stages of talks about a public listing according to three Bloomberg sources.

Com Hem is Sweden’s largest cable telephone operator, providing analog and digital television, broadband internet and telephone services to the country.

BC’s last major activity was in November 2013 when it agreed to buy financial information business Mergermarket from UK publishing group Pearson.

Mergermarket, which was launched in 1999, has a presence in 65 countries. In addition to Mergermarket, its brands include Debtwire, DealReporter, Infinata, Wealthmonitor, and Xtract Research.

BC said it would support Mergermarket develop its products and services, win new customers and expand via acquisitions.
