Arrowgrass Capital invests $15m in Bessemer-backed peer-to-peer lender Zopa

pound_sterling_170sqLondon-based alternative asset manager Arrowgrass Capital Partners has invested £15m in Europe’s largest peer-to-peer lending company Zopa.

The company aims to help savers achieve better rates by lending money to people looking for low-cost loans, and has seen its customers lend more than £455m through the platform.

Arrowgrass CEO Henry Kenner has joined the Zopa board following the investment.

Augmentum Capital, which is backed the FTSE-listed RIT Capital Partners, led an investment in the business in December 2012, while Bessemer Venture Partners is also a major backer.

Zopa CEO Giles Andrews said “As Zopa enables borrowers to dramatically cut their borrowing rates, and savers to see their money grow at market-leading rates and with the security they deserve, it’s win-win.

“This investment offers the opportunity to spread the benefits of Zopa further and faster.”
