Pan-African private equity fund African Development Partners II has been tapped for a $20m equity investment in Morocco’s Université Privée de Marrakech.
The university said it has ambitious growth plans across Morocco and Sub-Saharan Africa amid a continuing rise in demand for private education across the continent.
Development Partners International, which advises the fund, targets growth industries servicing the emerging middle classes.
UPM has more than 1,900 students at its 32-hectare campus in Marrakesh.
The university provides undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs in management and governance, tourism and hospitality management, engineering and innovation, health sciences, sports management, and arts.
