AE Industrial Partners has bought aerospace consumable repair products business AIM MRO to mark its fifth new platform investment of the year.

AIM MRO is a “one-stop-shop” serving aerospace engine and gas turbine maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities.

AEI senior partner Jon Nemo said the company had been on the firm’s radar for several years, given it strong fit with its investment approach.

The firm focuses on aerospace, defence and government services, power generation and specialty industrial markets.

AEI vice president Bryan McElwee said, “AIM MRO is well-positioned to address the repair needs of the large and growing installed base of aerospace engines globally.

“AEI is strategically focused on aerospace engine repair technologies and services, and sees multiple opportunities to expand AIM MRO’s unique capabilities to even better serve its customers.”

Last year AE tripled its capital under management by hauling in $1.36bn for its oversubscribed second fund in a rapid return to fundraising.
