Advent eyes international expansion of fitness software startup Mariana Tek following buyout

Buyout major Advent International has agreed a deal for US fitness studio software developer Mariana Tek.

The company’s software provides a suite of tools for fitness studio operators to manage their business, including showcasing schedules, pricing, and customer account information, as well as automatically penalising no-shows and late cancellations.

Advent said its investment was supported by its portfolio company Transaction Services Group, a business management software and payments company it bought in June.

The firm added that it aimed to strengthen Mariana’s position as a forceful disruptor for enterprise, franchise and multi-location boutique fitness brands, as well as expand it internationally.

Company co-founder and CEO Stacey Artandi Seldin said, “When John [Huffsmith] and I founded Mariana Tek, we knew there was a significant opportunity to provide a new enterprise software solution to boutique fitness brands.

“The industry has changed dramatically in recent years. Brands and customers are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and with that comes an appetite for innovation.”
