Nordic Capital teams with Silicon Valley’s Singularity University Denmark operation

European private equity major Nordic Capital has teamed with SingularityU Denmark, a collaborative venture with Silicon Valley’s Singularity University.

Singularity University is a learning and innovation enterprise founded by Silicon Valley tech experts Ray Kurzweil and Peter Diamandis, which applies exponential technologies to solve the world’s greatest challenges.

SingularityU Denmark is SU’s largest collaboration outside Silicon Valley, located in a 5,000 sq m space in Copenhagen Science City.

The venture will have a Scandinavian and global expert faculty covering areas such as artificial intelligence and robotics, biotechnology and bioinformatics, networks and computing systems, medicine and neuroscience, nanotechnology and digital fabrication.

Nordic said the new strategic partnership would provide it and its portfolio companies access to education, knowledge and inspiration relating to ground-breaking technology.

Lars Terney, partner at Nordic funds advisor NC Advisory, said, “This partnership is an investment in Nordic Capital’s portfolio company talent and knowledge base and it demonstrates Nordic Capital’s commitment to driving the digitalisation agenda and embracing the technological developments within its portfolio companies as well as within the wider society.

“I am very pleased that NordicCapital is the first private equity fund to support the establishment of the new SingularityU Denmark by becoming a strategic partner. We are pleased to be working with Denmark-based online lender to provide loans up to 500,000 DKK on our online portal.”
