UK consumer company investor Langholm Capital welcomes former Marks & Spencer exec as operating partner

Langholm Capital, a private equity firm focused on mid-market investments in European consumer-facing companies, has named Steven Esom as an operating partner.

Formerly managing director of supermarket Waitrose and executive director of food at UK retail outlet Marks & Spencer, Esom has also held board positions at Carphone Warehouse, Ocado and John Lewis Partnership.

His career started at supermarket J Sainsbury in 1983, where he was a senior buying director in food and personal care categories, before moving to Ladbroke Group at Texas (DIY) and Hilton Hotels.

He is a non-executive director of Tyrrells Potato Chips.
