Global investment bank Lazard has appointed Fotis Hasiotis as co-head of its European Financial Sponsors group.
Hasiotis joins from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was head of private equity for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He is to be based in London, while fellow group co-head Isabelle Xoual is based in Paris.
Working in the financial sponsors sector for the last 15, Hasiotis joined Merrill Lynch in 2004 as a managing director in the financial sponsors group in New York, and moved to London as head of EMEA financial sponsors in 2008. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Hasiotis was a managing director in the financial sponsors group at CIBC World Markets in New York. He began his investment banking career at Bankers Trust in 1989, joining its financial sponsors group in 1995.
Lazard London head William Rucker said “Fotis brings a wealth of experience with him, which will be of tremendous benefit to the team. His appointment underlines our commitment to provide outstanding advice to our financial sponsor clients in the region.”
Lazard’s recent private equity activities have included the exit of credit monitoring business Dun & Bradstreet Australia for $209m, and participation in a $350m Series B venture financing round for electric vehicle infrastructure developer Better Place.
