European mid-market private equity investor HgCapital has appointed long-time media and technology sector head Stephen Warshaw as part-time director in the firm’s portfolio management team.
An external HgCapital adviser since 2007, Warshaw has over 25 years as a CEO and chairman in the technology and media space, including at accountancy software provider IRIS software, acquired by HgCapital for £100m (€116.4m) in 2004 and sold to Hellman & Friedman in 2007 for an enterprise value of £500m (€580.8m).
He has also served as co-CEO of healthcare communications company MediMedia, owned by Carlyle, Cinven and Apax Partners. He is currently chairman of TeamSystems, acquired by HgCapital for €565m in August 2010.
HgCapital’s portfolio mahgement team head Lisa Stone said, “We have known Stephen and worked with him on numerous investments since 2004. We are extremely pleased to be formalising what has already been a very successful relationship and welcome Stephen to the firm.”
HgCapital recently partnered up with renewable energy developer NV Nordisk Vindkrat for the sale, construction and financing of a 41MW wind farm in Sweden.
