The Carlyle Group, one of the world’s largest private equity firms, is collaborating with the Robert Toigo Foundation to create the Toigo Private Equity MBA Fellowship, “the only MBA level fellowship for minorities looking for a career in finance”. The Carlyle Group has pledged $1m over four years to the start up of the fellowship.
The fellowship will extend over one year and will expose minority MBAs to three different rotations: working at the private equity firm, a plan sponsor and a portfolio company, as well as a focused private equity training session by Toigo.
David Rubenstein, managing director and co-founder of The Carlyle Group, said, “Carlyle’s commitment to bring diverse talent to the private equity arena is absolute. Together with Toigo, we’re launching this fellowship opportunity for minority MBA graduates interested in pursuing a career in private equity. We recognise the tremendous value diverse teams and diverse experiences bring to our firm and the industry as a whole, and believe more must be done to accelerate how we attract and retain minority talent within the industry.”
The Robert Toigo Foundation, which describes itself as “changing the face of finance”, is a non-profit organisation that has helped and sponsored the development of minority MBAs into leaders of the financial industry since its formation 20 years ago.
