European venture capital firm DFJ Esprit has hired Mikko Suonenlahti, who joins the team as a senior adviser, focusing on investments in the B2B and B2C software, medtech, bio-IT and energy efficiency sectors in the Nordic region.
Mikko spent 15 years as a venture capitalist in the US, Middle East and Finland. He has been a board member of over 20 venture capital financed businesses, of which 15 have been realised, as a co-founder of SFK Finance and a partner with 3i USA.
His investments include IObox, a European case study of early stage investing and Enfo Sofware, an acquisition of a pre-IPO business.
Suonenlahti said, “I am incredibly excited about working with DFJ Esprit. The firm has a diverse and interesting portfolio and I look forward to helping them build on this. My co-operation with many of the team members goes back to the mid 90s – both in Europe and the US.”
DFJ Esprit is the European partner for Silicon Valley-based Draper Fisher Jurvetson Global Network of venture funds, which, in total, has $6bn under management.
