Quay Partners, the Australian private equity fund of funds and advisory firm founded by former Macquarie and Pantheon executives, has appointed Solon Ventures co-founder Angus Whiteley as its group CEO based in London.
Whiteley co-founded London-based venture capital firm Solon alongside former Pantheon chairman Richard Thompson, who he met through his time advising a fund for Thompson Clive & Partners.
“We have known Angus for more than 10 years, following an introduction by Richard Thompson, the founding chairman of private equity fund of funds Pantheon Ventures, and an early shareholder,” said Quay Partners’ controlling shareholders Richard Bowley and Geoff Norman.
“Angus has worked his entire career to date with Richard Thompson, most recently as co-founders of venture capital firm Solon Ventures.
“His first-hand understanding of private equity investing will be an invaluable asset for us.”
The appointment follows a busy few months for Quay Partners, which last month announced the opening of an office in Boston and the addition of an infrastructure advisory team.
The firm – which now has offices in London, Boston, San Francisco and Sydney and over $1bn under management and advice – has made a number of appointments since July, including the hiring of former Adams Street, Graphite and Pantheon executive Lucy Nicholls in its London office.
