Placement agent FIRSTavenue hires Blackstone MD for new Sydney office

17 Apr 2014

Placement agent FIRSTavenue has hired former Blackstone managing director Martin Donnelly as a partner to the firm’s new office in Sydney, Australia.

Donnelly will work closely with investors throughout Australia and New Zealand, as well as sourcing prospective clients, the firm said.

At Blackstone Donnelly focused on business development and client relations in Australia and the Pacific Rim for the firm’s hedge funds solutions group. Prior to that, he was the deputy CEO and head of distribution at ING Investment Management in Australia, having responsibility for coordinating the firm’s sales and marketing and serving as a member of its private equity investment committee.

“I am pleased to be joining FIRSTavenue at such an exciting time. It has established its credentials with a number of Australian managers, successfully representing them to investors globally. Importantly, the firm has also demonstrated an ability to represent top tier alternative asset managers to the Australian institutional market. I look forward to assisting the firm as it continues to build a strong and successful franchise, expanding their exposure to Australia and New Zealand,” said Donnelly.

Founded in 2006, FIRSTavenue focuses on alternative asset managers across private credit, private equity, real assets and real estate in developed and emerging markets. The firm has offices in London, New York, San Francisco, Cleveland and Sydney.
