London-based growth investor MML Capital Partners has further increased the size of its UK team by hiring former National Australia Bank executive Richard Mayers as an investment director.
The addition marks the culmination of the latest round of MML recruitment following two earlier appointments in London and one in Paris over the last six months.
Prior to joining MML, Mayers was a director in the strategic business services’ team at National Australia Bank, having previously led a large number of UK mid-market private equity financed transactions as part of NAB’s leverage finance team. These included Retail Decisions, Clarion Events, AKW Medicare and Healthcare at Home.
Prior to this, Mayers also gained experience at Goldman Sachs’ European leverage finance and at Ernst and Young, having qualified as a chartered accountant at Arthur Andersen in the global corporate finance division.
“We are currently in a growth phase as a business,” said Bal Johal, a managing partner based in MML’s London office. “We have made three new investments in the last year, exited eight and raised a new fund – the decision to bring Richard onto the team was an easy one.’’
MML is currently investing through its fifth fund, which closed in May last year with commitments of €252m.The firm recently teamed up with Sports Investment Partners, the British private equity firm led by former Liverpool FC chairman Sir Martin Broughton, for a £16.5m stake in event services company The Arena Group.
