Corporate venture capital firm Intel Capital has promoted three investment managers to managing director as it added four new technology investment sectors, bringing the total to nine.
New managing director Dharmesh Thakker will lead the datacenter software sector and the new devices and wearables and security sectors will be led by newly appointed managing directors Dharmesh Thakker, pictured, and Ken Elefant.
Existing managing director Ramamurthy Sivakumar will be responsible for the new ultrabook and perceptual computing sector.
Intel Capital president Arvind Sodhani said, “Intel Capital has developed significant domain expertise in datacenter software, wearables, perceptual computing, security and ultrabook technologies from years of investing in innovative companies in these areas.
“The formation of the new sectors will allow us to put even more focus on these rapidly evolving technologies in order to deliver on our value proposition of helping the best entrepreneurs scale their ideas from startup to global corporation.”
Since its launch in 1991, Intel has invested $10.9bn in nearly 1,300 companies.
Earlier this month Intel led a $14m Series B round for commerce search advertising specialist HookLogic.
