Fund of funds SL Capital bolsters Boston team

1 May 2012

Fund of funds SL Capital Partners has promoted Whit Matthews to investment director within the firm’s investment team in Boston.

In his new role, he will continue to be responsible for SL Capital’s North American primary fund investments, secondary investments and direct co-investments, with a particular focus on the West Coast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

Jamie Ebersole, senior investment director and head of SL Capital’s Boston office, said, “Whit Matthews’ promotion to investment director is a well deserved recognition of his hard work and dedication to building our North American investment programme and expanding our reach in the middle market. “2012 will no doubt present new challenges and opportunities for SL Capital, however, we are predicting another strong year of private equity activity in both North America and Europe. Whit and the SL Capital team will continue to work hard to build on the firm’s success in delivering attractive investment opportunities for our clients.”

Prior to joining SL Capital in 2009, Whit was an investment associate at the University of Pennsylvania Endowment where he focused on private equity and absolute return investing.

Earlier this year, SL Capital Partners founder and chief executive David Currie announced his retirement after 33 years in private equity.
