Data Point Capital picks Harvard Business School professor as latest special advisor

mouse_computerInternet-focused venture investor Data Point Capital has hired Harvard Business School professor Len Schlesinger as a special advisor.

Schlesinger, who previously worked as vice chairman and COO of Limited Brands and executive vice president of Au Bon Pan.

Data Point managing partner Scott Savitz said, “I could not be happier to have Len join our group.

“He is extremely passionate about entrepreneurialism, having authored or co-authored eleven books on the subject as well as serving as the twelfth president of [Massachusetts-based Babson College].

“He also brings a depth of operating experience that greatly benefits the portfolio companies we work with.

“We are lucky to have Len in New England and feel privileged to have him working with us.”

Savitz, the founder and former CEO of online retailer Shoebuy.com, launched Data Point Capital with a $50m debut fund in 2012.

The fund aims to support new and nascent companies that can be leveraged and scaled on the internet.

Current categories of interest include mobile, gaming, social networking, online payment services, comparison shopping, and e-commerce, the firm said.
