Argüelles joined the CalPERS alternative investment management (AIM) programme in 2002. His responsibilities included sourcing, analysing, negotiating, and monitoring private equity investment opportunities. He also managed the emerging markets investment activities of the programme.
Argüelles, whose LinkedIn profile still has him listed as being at CalPERS, will take up a new role at OTTP’s private equity investment arm, Teachers’ Private Capital, according to Private Equity International.
Teachers’ Private Capital has a team of more than 40 investment professionals. It is led by senior vice president Jane Rowe, who was appointed in October 2010, replacing Erol Uzumeri, who left to launch Searchlight Capital Partners.
