Blackstone COO and president Tony James has reportedly earned more than $60m by selling part of his stake in the listed global investment group.
According to Reuters James holds 7.8 million common units of Blackstone stock after selling off the 3.5 million shares, alongside 34.1 million partnership units. He earned $52.6m in 2011.
James is a member of the board of directors for Blackstone Group Management, the firm’s general partner. He is also a member of Blackstone’s management and executive committees and sits on each of the firm’s investment committees.
Prior to joining Blackstone in 2002 he was chairman of global investment banking and private equity at Credit Suisse First Boston and previously was chairman of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette’s banking group.
