Global private equity firm Advent International has named pharmaceuticals and healthcare veteran Hanspeter Spek as an operating partner.
Spek will advise and work closely with Advent’s healthcare team to identify opportunities and generate “post-investment value”.
Most recently he served as Sanofi’s president of global operations, having joined the firm in 1985 as marketing director of Sanofi Pharma, the company’s German subsidiary.
Prior to that he worked at Pfizer International where he held various marketing and sales positions before becoming marketing director for the German subsidiary.

Advent International has invested in over 30 healthcare companies. Last year the firm paid €775m for Dutch medical supplies company Mediq, while recent investments include recovery audit services provider Connolly and India’s Care Hospitals.
