Emerging markets private equity firm Actis has named Neil Brown as partner and head of the firm’s investor relations activities.
Brown was previously at Citigroup in New York and London as a business head within Citi’s alternative investments business, working on product development, sales, client service and AI research.
He was subsequently with Allco Finance Group in Sydney as head of funds management and head of debt and equity capital markets.
Most recently Brown co-founded Minerva Capital, a boutique advisory firm for private equity, hedge fund and real estate clients, specialising in capital raising and strategic transactions.
He will lead Actis’s investor development group whilst overseeing product development, alternative funding structures and “strategic positioning” and will work closely with partner Adiba Ighodaro, relocating to London from his native Australia.
The firm has also named Sachin Korantak as head of industrials and Andreas von Paleske as director of consumer.
The firm said its investment strategy aims to respond to the demands of its fast growing consumer class and back the build out of domestic infrastructure in the emerging markets, especially energy.
The firm was recently reported to be targeting $163m for its latest Brazil-focused energy fund.
