Boston-based private equity firm Falcon Investment Advisors has gathered $590m for its Falcon Strategic Partners IV fund, according to a recent SEC filing.
In September 2012 AltAssets revealed that the firm was hoping to almost double its assets under management by launching its $900m fourth buyout fund. The firm raised $850m for its previous fund in 2009.
At the time, Louisiana Teachers’ Retirement System had already committed $50m towards the fund. Atlantic Pacific Capital was named as a placement agent for the fund.
With over $1bn of capital under management, the firm invests subordinated debt and equity capital of up to $75m a transaction.
The firm is led by former president of Hancock Mezzanine Investments Sandeep Alva, whoe founded Falcon in July 2000. Fellow managing partner William Kennedy Jr joined Falcon at its inception from Hancock Life Insurance Company, where was managing director and corporate secretary of Hancock Mezzanine Investments.
