Cogent Partners, the private equity investment bank focused on the secondaries market, has opened an office in San Francisco to expand relationships with clients in the Western United States and Canada.
Cogent Partners director Andy Nick has relocated from Dallas to San Francisco to lead the effort, the firm said in a statement.
“We are fortunate to know and work with many institutions located on the West Coast and believe that having a permanent presence there will allow Cogent to better serve our clients and expand our relationships in the region,” Cogent managing partner Stephen Sloan said in the statement.
Nick added, “After five years of serving Cogent’s clients globally from our Dallas office, I’m excited about relocating to San Francisco to spend more time working with limited partners throughout the Western US and Canada.
“Additionally, we look forward to working closely with the GP community in the region to help generate liquidity from existing portfolios through the growing secondary direct market.”
Since joining the firm in 2008, Nick has advised a number of the world’s leading institutional investors on strategic secondary sales of private equity fund interests, Cogent said.
Additionally, he has worked with general partners to implement solutions to recapitalise and restructure existing private equity funds in order to generate liquidity for limited partners.
Nick joined Cogent from Citigroup, where he worked in the Investment Banking Division.
