Specialist private equity firm Bacchus Capital has provided growth capital to Washington winery DeLille Cellars and has acquired Oregon-based Panther Creek Cellars.
Wine-focused investment firm Bacchus was established by Seagram and Diageo executive Sam Bronfman and Peter Kaufman and Henry Owsley – both formerly of Gordian Group.
“We invest in businesses and winemakers we believe in,” said Kaufman. “For DeLille Cellars, we have provided growth capital and in Panther’s case, it’s an outright acquisition.”
Bacchus portfolio companies include Andretti Winery, Madrigal Family Winery, Maritime Wine Trading Collective, Qupé, Sbragia Family Vineyards and Wine by Joe.
Bacchus also previously provided financing for Cameron Hughes Wine, one of America’s fastest growing wine businesses.
