VC-backed Puppet Labs secures $30m strategic investment

Venture capital-backed IT automation software developer Puppet Labs has secured a $30m investment from US software company VMware.

Puppet Labs is backed by investors including Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Google Ventures, VMware, Cisco, True Ventures, Radar Partners and Emerson Street Partners

The funding included a strategic partnership for delivering IT management related to the application of virtualisation and cloud software.

Ramin Sayar, vice president and general manager, virtualisation and cloud management, VMware. “This strategic investment and partnership will further accelerate the software-defined data center, and will allow a more extensive automation and orchestration solution across infrastructure and application elements for VMware-based private and public clouds, physical infrastructures, OpenStack and Amazon Web Services.”
