Stripes Group leads $50m for Blue Apron

30 Apr 2014

food6Venture capital firm The Stripes Group has led a $50m funding round for delivery service Blue Apron, which it ten times the size of the company’s Series B.

Existing backers Bessemer Venture Partners and First Round Capital also participated in the round, said Blue Apron.

The round follows Blue Apron’s $5m series B raised in August 2013.

Stripes Group managing partner Ken Fox said, “Blue Apron is a leader and innovator, changing the way people cook and eat.

“The company’s direct supplier relationships, paired with their efficient logistics operation, enables them to provide food at peak freshness to consumers throughout the United States better and cheaper than traditional grocers.

“By disrupting the food supply chain from the farm to the dinner table, Blue Apron is revolutionizing the way that people think about and cook food. We look forward to being a part of the company’s continued success.”

Other companies backed by Stripes include lifestyle media business Refinery29, which raised $20m Series C from the firm last October.
