UK sport-focused social network fanatix has secured an additional $1m in funding from angel investors.
Launched in October 2011, the company provides sports fans with a personalised stream of sports content – news updates, tweets, video clips, live scores and statistics.
It has now raised more than $2m in funding to date.
“The collision of social and mobile has created the opportunity for the sports industry to ‘re-imagine the back-page’ and we think that we’re starting to see that fulfilled by the fanatix suite of products,” said Will Muirhead, fanatix founder and CEO.
Prior to forming fanatix, Muirhead founded IP video delivery platform SportEV in 1999, which was sold to The Press Association in 2005.
