Venture capital firm Sequoia Capital has led an INR1bn ($16.3m) funding round for Indian maternity and infant care provider Cloudnine.
Existing backer Matrix Partners India also participated in the round, which will fund the launch of 10 new centres within the next two years.
“Cloudnine is a leader in the premium mother and childcare services market in India. We are very impressed with their world class healthcare services delivered in a consumer friendly model, which has resulted in the strong market position they have created in the specialty healthcare segment,” said Sequoia Capital India Advisors managing director GV Ravishankar, according to VCCircle.
Sequoia was an investor in search engine Just Dial, which was floated in the largest ever IPO by an Indian company earlier this year.
The firm Sequoia invested $55m in Just Dialin June 2012 in its largest deal in India.
