Rex, which runs restaurants including The Wolseley and The Delauney, said it will use the investment to fund two new brasseries and work on five-star Mayfair hotel The Beaumont.
Restaurateurs Chris Corbin and Jeremy King set up Rex in 2003, selling Le Caprice, The Ivy and J Sheekey the same year.
Graphite senior partner Andy Gray said, “With a highly experienced and respected management team, in a sector where we have achieved considerable success, Rex perfectly meets Graphite’s key investment criteria.
“Arguably the best restaurateurs of their generation, Corbin and King have particularly impressed us with their visionary approach and their attention to detail.”
Graphite has previously invested in Asian-themed restaurant chain Wagamama and the members-only Groucho Club.
