Drupal Commerce is an open-source framework for online retailers used in more than 10,000 websites, offering the ability to upload catalogues of merchandise, accept payments online, integrate with shipping services and interact with customers.
French entrepreneur fund ISAI and Finland-based venture capital firm Open Ocean also contributed to the round, bringing the company’s total funding up to $6m, following a seed round led by ISAI in 2010.
The new funding will enable the company to recruit an extra 30 employees in the coming months, half of them in Paris and the UK. The company currently has 37 employees split between the US and its European headquarters in Paris.
Alven Capital recently also led a €1m funding round for Joliebox, a beauty product subscription service. The firm joined a number of angel investors to finance the French start-up, which delivers a monthly ‘beauty box’ to its subscribers.
