San Francisco-based food delivery business Munchery has raised $28m to fund its expansion to Seattle in the largest round secured by a food startup to date.
SherpaVentures led the round and its founder Shervin Pishevar will now join Munchery’s board of directors.
Since its launch a year ago the company has served more than 580,000 meals to tens of thousands of customers.
Last autumn Munchery added sustainable packaging, a meal donation program with the SF & Marin Food Bank, and a CO2 offset program with The Conservation Fund.
Other companies backed by Sherpa include managed service provider for back offices BackOps, which raised $7m in a Series A round last year.
