The private equity arm of state-backed Lloyds Banking Group has hired Joe Farren as an investment director based in its Yorkshire and North East office.
Farren has joined LDC from FTSE 250-listed construction materials supplier SIG, where he spent eight years as head of UK and Ireland Corporate Development.
He began his career with KPMG’s corporate finance team in London after qualifying as a barrister in 1996. He moved to Yorkshire in 2000 with Arthur Andersen before joining Ernst & Young’s Leeds office as an assistant director in 2001.
LDC Yorkshire and North East head John Garner, who was promoted to the role last September, also previously worked as a corporate finance advisor at KMPG in London.
Garner said, “The appointment further demonstrates our commitment to supporting the growth ambitions of the region’s high quality companies and maintaining our position as the UK’s leading mid-market investor.
“Joe has significant experience of working with management teams to drive organic and acquisitive growth from both sides of the fence, having spent his career in corporate finance advisory roles and at one of the region’s most prominent corporates.
“We have no doubt that he will use those skills to have a tangible impact on investment activity and the performance of our portfolio.”
Farren is the third addition to the office since last August, when former Deloitte corporate financier Dale Alderson joined as an investment director.
Last month LDC agreed to back the buyout of NRS Healthcare from Findel, while the Leeds team completed its exit of aerospace engineering group MB Aerospace.
