Bioformix said it would use the investment to expand its R&D, production and commercial sales.

The firm, which focuses on early to mid-stage energy tech investments, also led a funding round in smart grid component developer Utilidata last month.
It has invested in more than 60 companies in the sector since it was formed in 2002, supplying finance of between $1m and $10m per round.
