Basis Science has added a further $11.75m in Series B funding to take the total for the round to more than $23m.
Intel Capital, iNovia Capital, Dolby Family Trust, Stanford University and Peninsula-KCG participated in the round, as did existing backers Mayfield Fund, DCM and Norwest Venture Partners.
The company’s main product is Basis, a wearable health tracker to improve fitness and sleep.
The wearables market is expected to grow from 14m devices shipped in 2011 to 171m units in 2016, according to IMS Research.
Intel Capital president Arvind Sodhani said, “Wearable computing enables a data-driven approach to managing healthcare and fitness.
“By collecting heart rate, skin and ambient temperature data along with movement tracking, the Basis multi-sensor band opens up opportunities for data analytics driving deeper insights into health and personal behaviour.”
