American Capital exits Specialty Brands America in $155m deal


exit 15_sqPrivate equity firm American Capital has agreed to exit packaged foods group Specialty Brands America to B&G Foods in a $155m deal.

Specialty Brands is expected to generate an annual EITDA of $20m on revenues of $85m after its integration into B&G.

Specialty’s leading brand is dry soup Bear Creek Country Kitchens.

American Capital, which backed the company in 2004, was advised by Evercore Group on the deal.

Last November American Capital exited specialty materials manufacturer DelStar to engineering company Schweitzer-Mauduit International.
