3i's investment, realisation pace slows significantly in current market 25/09/2008. Due to the tougher environment 3i invested only £622m during the five months ended 31 August, significantly less than the £1.012bn invested in the equivalent period last year, 3i said in its pre-close briefing ahead of its half-year results which will be announced on 6 November 2008. 
Quadrangle opens Hong Kong office 25/09/2008. Quadrangle Group, focused on the media and communications sector, has opened a new office in Hong Kong. Edward Sippel, a managing principal of Quadrangle who has been based in New York, will head the Asian office. 
CVC establish US advisory board 24/09/2008. CVC Capital Partners has formed a US advisory board. Former Hilton Hotels Corporation CEO and co-chairman Stephen F Bollenbach, former vice chairman of Burberry Rose Marie Bravo and former chairman of the board of Saks Holdings R Brad Martin have become the first three advisory board members. 
American Capital opens Hong Kong office
24/09/2008. American Capital has expanded the firm's operations in Asia with the establishment of the firm's first Asian office, in Hong Kong. The initial focus of the expansion will be to identify and support opportunities throughout Asia for its existing portfolio companies in the US and Europe and to build relationships with local institutional investors, according to the firm. 
KKR posts investment loss of $1.1bn for H1 23/09/2008. Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. has recorded an investment loss of $1.1bn for the first half of 2008. 
Serge Raicher takes over from Doug Miller as EVPA chairman 17/09/2008. The European Venture Philanthropy Association, launched in October 2004, has appointed Serge Raicher, a co-founding trustee of EVPA and a partner of Pantheon Ventures, as its new chairman, succeeding EVPA founder Doug Miller. EVPA has also announced that it is opening a new office in Brussels. 
Invesco WL Ross, Huaneng Capital Services form joint venture targeting power investments in China 16/09/2008. Invesco WL Ross, a partnership between private equity firm WL Ross & Co. and investment manager Invesco, has joined with Huaneng Capital Services, a subsidiary of power producer China Huaneng Group, to form joint venture Huaneng Invesco WLR Investment Consulting Company, targeting private equity investment opportunities in power generation. 
Aberdeen Asset Management executives form Spirit Capital 15/09/2008. Francesco Santinon, supported by Andy Glennon and Colin Stirling, has completed an MBO of the former private equity business from Aberdeen Asset Management to create a new independent private equity business. Spirit Capital Partners has assumed the management of about £100m of private capital from Aberdeen and will continue to work with the current portfolio of investments. The business will continue to operate nationally from offices in London and Leeds. 
MPOWER Ventures forms philanthropic foundation 11/09/2008. MPOWER Ventures, an Austin-based socially committed venture capital fund that invests in financial service companies targeting underserved markets, has established the MPOWER Foundation. 
Lehman to sell private equity business 11/09/2008. Ailing US investment bank Lehman Brothers has confirmed that it will sell a 55 per cent stake in its investment management unit, including Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking. 
Riverside opens Hong Kong office, hires Brian Bunker 09/09/2008. The Riverside Company has opened an office in Hong Kong, to be led by former president of Danaher China Brian Bunker, who has been appointed as managing director. The Hong Kong office is Riverside's third in Asia, following the establishment of the Tokyo and Seoul offices, in April and October 2007, respectively. 
SVG Advisers closes fund of funds for Asia, opens Singapore office 08/09/2008. SVG Advisers, the private equity fund management business of SVG Capital, has closed the SVG Asia Fund of Funds on $200m, above its target of $150m. Together with the closing of this fund the firm has announced that it now has an Asian office, in Singapore, headed up by Simon Lund. 
Bear Stearns Private Equity becomes J.P. Morgan Private Equity 08/09/2008. JPMorgan Asset Management has announced that shareholders of London-listed Bear Stearns Private Equity have approved the name change to J.P. Morgan Private Equity. 
FMO invests €118m in African private equity funds 05/09/2008. The Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO) has committed €118m in total to nine African private equity funds year-to-date. The Dutch development bank has participated in the first closing of the Aureos Africa Fund and committed capital to Africinvest Fund II, a pan-African mid-market fund managed by AfricInvest Capital Partners - Tuninvest Finance Group. 
Crédit Agricole Private Equity to launch co-investment activity 04/09/2008. Crédit Agricole Private Equity has launched a co-investment activity that will take minority equity stakes alongside European and North American investment funds. With an initial allocation of €100m, the activity will invest in mid to large-scale LBO and development capital deals across all sectors, with investment capacity of €15m per deal. 
Asset management firm LJH, John Jonge Poerink launch private equity firm Linley Capital 03/09/2008. Alternative investment firm LJH Global Investments and industry veteran John R Jonge Poerink have launched LJH Linley Capital, a New York-based private equity firm. The new firm will invest in mid-market companies through LBOs, recapitalisations and growth equity investments in sectors including consumer products, industrial and manufacturing in the US, Canada, Latin America and Europe. 
CVC establishes Global Financial Institutions sector team 01/09/2008. CVC Capital Partners has established a new Global Financial Institutions sector team, with Jonathan Feuer, a managing partner at CVC, as its head.

Cressey & Company opens Nashville office 28/08/2008. Chicago-based healthcare sector-focused investment firm Cressey & Company has opened an office in Nashville, US. The new office is the firm's second. 
US venture capital firm Battery expands Israel office 26/08/2008. Technology venture capital and private equity firm Battery Ventures has expanded its Israel operations with the arrival of US-based general partner Scott Tobin and senior associate David Sokolic. They will work out of the firm's Herzilya office, which opened in 2005. 
Canadian firm PCP launches healthcare fund, hires former health minister 20/08/2008. Canadian firm Persistence Capital Partners has established the PCP Healthcare Opportunities Fund, a fund focused on healthcare across Canada. Former Quebec health minister Dr Philippe Couillard has also joined PCP as a partner in the new fund.

Apollo, Lazard plan to work together on European investments 13/08/2008. Apollo Management and Lazard Group are to form a strategic partnership targeting private equity investments in Europe. 
Blackstone establishes cleantech energy group 07/08/2008. The Blackstone Group has established a new business group focused on investments in the cleantech energy sector. The group will also provide advice on renewable energy strategies across Blackstone's diverse asset base. 
Blackstone opens Beijing office, appoints Shan Fu as chief representative 04/08/2008. The Blackstone Group has established a representative office in Beijing, to be headed by Shan Fu, who has joined the firm as its Beijing chief representative. 
Tasman Capital completes buy-out from Nikko Citi Holdings 04/08/2008. Australia and New Zealand-focused mid-market private equity firm Tasman Capital Partners has been formed as the result of an MBO of the Nikko Principal Investments Australia business from Nikko Citi Holdings. 
KKR to list on NYSE, first acquiring KPE 28/07/2008. US buy-out giant Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co has agreed to acquire all of the assets and assumption of all of the liabilities of KKR Private Equity Investors, the Netherlands-listed private equity investment fund. The transaction will form part of KKR's IPO on the New York Stock Exchange in the fourth quarter of this year. 
PAI establishes business to focus on minority stakes in listed companies 23/07/2008. European private equity firm PAI partners has established independent investment firm Akkadia, with Philippe Guez. The new firm will manage and advise funds dedicated to the acquisition of minority stakes in listed mid-cap companies. 
NBGI establishes Paris office, launches €75m fund 17/07/2008. UK mid-market private equity firm NBGI has expanded its operations with the launch of a French fund, targeted at €75m. The firm has established an office in Paris, to be headed by Didier Riebel and Laurent Allégot. 
Video game-focused private equity firm GCube Ventures launches 16/07/2008. Shiraz Akmal and Jawad Ansari have established private equity firm GCube Ventures, based in Los Angeles, which will focus on the video game industry, initially targeting the US and Asian markets. 
DN Capital to open Palo Alto office 16/07/2008. European venture capital firm DN Capital is to open an office in Palo Alto, California, to be headed by managing partner and co-founder Steve Schlenker. 
Manchester-based Infinity opens Mayfair office 15/07/2008. Manchester-based private equity and property fund Infinity has opened a new office in Mayfair, London, from which it plans to expand its activities into the South of England.

Investor group forms Triton Energy Partners to develop natural gas storage facilities 15/07/2008. Quantum Energy Partners, alongside industry veterans Dr Larry Bickle and Larry Lawyer, has formed Triton Energy Partners, an investment company focused on US gas storage facilities. 
Bessemer Venture Partners sets up India advisory group 11/07/2008. US venture capital firm Bessemer Venture Partners has set up an advisory group for its Indian investment team. The advisors will support the team in both deal origination and working with portfolio companies. 
Wellington opens Palo Alto office 10/07/2008. European venture capital firm Wellington Partners has opened a new office in Palo Alto, California - the firm's fourth and its first outside Europe. The US office will help the firm's portfolio companies expand into the US market. 
CVC opens Beijing office, appoints Zhu Wei managing director 08/07/2008. CVC Capital Partners has established an office in Beijing, to be headed by Zhu Wei, who has joined the firm as a managing director. 
Informa confirms $4.3bn approach by Providence, Carlyle, Hellman & Friedman 04/07/2008. Informa, the UK-based media and conference firm, has confirmed that it has received a buy-out proposal from a consortium comprised of Providence Equity, The Carlyle Group and Hellman & Friedman. 
AXA Private Equity opens Zurich office 02/07/2008. AXA Private Equity, an AXA Investment Managers company, has opened a new office in Zurich, led by Martin Kessi. It is the firm's seventh office. 
Warburg Pincus backs new private investment firm Constitution Medical Investors 23/06/2008. Warburg Pincus is backing the launch of a new firm to acquire healthcare-related platform technologies and companies. Constitution Medical Investors, as the new Boston-based firm is called, will be led by senior healthcare executives Patrick Sullivan and Daniel Levangie. 
Accel-KKR backs launch of new private equity firm M2 Technology Partners

Industri Kapital renames itself IK Investment Partners 12/06/2008. Mid-market European private equity firm Industri Kapital has changed its name to IK Investment Partners, to reflect its expanded investment and geographical focus. 
CapMan to acquire Russian private equity house Norum 28/05/2008. CapMan, a European firm with Nordic roots, has agreed to acquire management companies of Norum Russia Fund III from the company's senior management, DnB NOR Bank and Sitra Management. 
Gruppo Banca Leonardo acquires stake in BS Private Equity, invests €20m in new fund
21/05/2008. Private investment bank Gruppo Banca Leonardo has acquired 20 per cent of Italian private equity firm BS Private Equity for an undisclosed amount. The deal includes an option to buy the remaining 80 per cent of the firm in the future, according to a statement. 
Granite Global Ventures renames itself GGV Capital 20/05/2008. Granite Global Ventures, an expansion stage venture capital investor in the US and China, has renamed itself GGV Capital. 
NESTA supports new Web Science Research Initiative 20/05/2008. The National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts has teamed up with Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, to support a new Web Science Research Initiative (WSRI), NESTA announced at its largest innovation conference to date. 
Blackstone announces first quarter loss 16/05/2008. The Blackstone Group recorded a net loss of $251m in the first quarter of this year, due to the difficult situation especially larger buy-out houses are finding themselves in as a result of the credit crunch last summer. 
Aureos strikes cooperation agreement with Costa Rica's junior stock market 15/05/2008. Aureos Capital's Emerge Central America Growth Fund (EMERGE) has signed a cooperation agreement with Carlos Mora de la Orden, authorised sponsor of Costa Rica's junior stock market MAPA. 
Carlyle teams up with Shandong Province in China to increase investment in the region 14/05/2008. The Carlyle Group and the Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Shandong Province (SDFTEC) have entered into a memorandum of understanding to enhance trade co-operation and stimulate investment in the province. 
American Capital Strategies opens second Boston office, expands sponsor finance group 08/05/2008. American Capital Strategies has opened a second office in the Boston area to expand its sponsor finance group's investment activities. The new office will be led by Tim Robinson, who the firm has appointed as a principal. In his new role, he will be joined by David Morris as vice president and Dan Hodges as associate. 
Partners Group opens China office 07/05/2008. Switzerland-based alternative asset manager Partners Group has opened an office in Beijing. PPM Capital renames itself Silverfleet Capital 06/05/2008. European private equity house PPM Capital has changed its name to Silverfleet Capital, following a buy-out in November 2007 from its previous owner, Prudential. 
Swiss firm SCM opens Hong Kong office 30/04/2008. Zurich-headquartered SCM Strategic Capital Management has opened a new office in Hong Kong. The news follows the establishment of SCM Strategic Capital Management Asia earlier this year. 
Swiss Adamant Biomedical Investments establishes Adamant Ventures in UK 17/04/2008. Swiss healthcare-focused financial advisor Adamant Biomedical Investments has formed a new venture capital subsidiary in the UK, Adamant Ventures. Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, Adamant Ventures will target private equity investments in healthcare companies based in the UK, Scandinavia, Central Europe and the US. 
Partners Group opens Luxembourg office, hires Jerry Ludig 16/04/2008. Zug, Switzerland-headquartered alternative asset manager Partners Group has added a new location to its office network. The Luxembourg office is Partners Group's ninth office. 
Peter Georgiopoulos launches fund for maritime and clean energy industries 16/04/2008. Maritime and energy industry veteran Peter C Georgiopoulos has launched Green Maritime Partners, a private equity fund targeting environmentally sustainable investments within the maritime and clean energy sectors. New York State Common Retirement Fund to commit $500m to green investments

DLJMB opens Michigan office 04/04/2008. DLJ Merchant Banking Partners, a private equity investment affiliate of Credit Suisse, has opened an office in Troy, Michigan to serve the Midwest and the mid-section of the US. 
GLE acquires early stage investment specialist YFM 04/04/2008. GLE Group, a UK angel and early stage venture capital provider to small and growing enterprises in Europe, has completed its acquisition of early stage investment specialist YFM Group. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. 
Partners Group opens Sydney office, appoints Martin Scott, Mike Siebert 03/04/2008. Zug, Switzerland-headquartered alternative asset manager Partners Group has opened an office in Sydney. Former Zurich Financial Services head of investment sales Martin Scott has been appointed to the new office. 
CapMan hires Jukka Ruuska, establishes fund to invest in listed companies 31/03/2008. Nordic private equity firm CapMan has appointed Jukka Ruuska, president of the OMX Nordic Exchanges and the Stockholm Stock Exchange, to help the firm establish an equity fund focusing on listed companies in the Nordic region. The fund will apply methods and tools from the world of private equity to public equity investing and value creation. 
NVP India hires Mohan Kumar, opens office in Bangalore 28/03/2008. Technology venture capital firm Norwest Venture Partners has hired Mohan Kumar as executive director of NVP India. Based in the firm's new Bangalore office, Kumar will focus on technology investments in India. 
CalSTRS awards $200m mandate to Invesco 19/03/2008. The California State Teachers' Retirement System has announced that Invesco Private Capital will manage its second private equity fund of funds portfolio of new and next generation manager partnership investments. CalSTRS's New and Next Generation Manager Fund II is a $200m private equity portfolio. 
Ferd Private Equity spins out, renames itself Herkules 17/03/2008. Norway's Ferd Private Equity has renamed itself Herkules Capital to mark its independence from Ferd AS. The firm will relocate its offices to central Oslo. 
IDG Ventures Atlantic closes $280m fund, renames itself Flybridge 17/03/2008. Boston-based Flybridge Capital Partners, formerly known as IDG Ventures Atlantic, has closed its latest fund, the $280m Flybridge Capital Partners III, focused on early stage venture investments. 
Carlyle Capital Corporation to wind up 17/03/2008. Carlyle Capital Corporation, the Carlyle Group's $22bn mortgage-backed securities fund, intends to file for compulsory winding up in Guernsey, according to a statement. 
Lyceum targets investments in legal services sector, hires three 06/03/2008. UK mid-market private equity firm Lyceum Capital is targeting investment opportunities in the legal services sector, which should arise from the Legal Services Act 2007. The firm has established a new legal industry advisory board and recruited Tony Williams, Paul Hewitt and Professor Richard Susskind, OBE to the board. 
Pequot Ventures to become independent from Pequot Capital 05/03/2008. Pequot Ventures, the New York City-based venture capital arm of hedge fund Pequot Capital Management, plans to become independent from Pequot Capital. The firm will rename itself FirstMark Capital. The deal still requires investor approval. 
Advent partner Istvan Szoke to build CVC's CEE team 03/03/2008. Europe and Asia-focused buy-out house CVC Capital Partners has hired Istvan Szoke to build an investment team focusing on the firm's CEE activity. 
Baird expands activities in China 03/03/2008. Baird Private Equity, the private equity group affiliated with Robert W Baird & Co., has launched a China-based investment team, Baird Capital Partners Asia. Operating out of offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, the team will focus on growth equity investment opportunities in Greater China, in sectors including business services, manufactured products and healthcare. 
FountainVest to receive $400m from Canadian investors 26/02/2008. The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, the investment management division of the Canada Pension Plan, and Teachers' Private Capital, the private investment arm of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, are investing $200m each in newly established Chinese private equity fund FountainVest. The CPPIB has also opened an international office in Hong Kong. 
JPMorgan allocates $750m to private equity investment in Asia Pacific 20/02/2008. JPMorgan Asia Pacific is committing $750m to mid-market private equity investment opportunities in the Asia Pacific region. The expansion will be headed by Varun Bery and John Troy, co-founders of private equity firm TVG Capital Partners, who are joining JPMorgan as managing directors. 
GIMV, KBC establish joint investment vehicle for Russia 12/02/2008. Belgian private equity firms GIMV and KBC Private Equity have teamed up to establish a new firm, Eagle Capital Partners, to target the Russian market. The firms are planning to invest around €10m each per year over the next three years. 
BVCA establishes Global Buyout and Mid-Market Committees 05/02/2008. The British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association has added two new sector committees, the Global Buyout and Mid-Market Committees, to its existing Venture and Enterprise committees. The restructuring is a result of the BVCA's recent strategic review, which included a survey of all member firms. 
Kohlberg Capital establishes new distressed investment platform 01/02/2008. Kohlberg Capital Corporation, a publicly-traded affiliate of mid-market buy-out firm Kohlberg & Co., in partnership with Steven Panagos and Jonathan Katz, has formed a new distressed investing platform, Panagos Katz Situational Investing. The new business will invest in the debt and equity of companies that are entering into or are in the process of restructuring due to financial or operational distress. 
Australian venture capital firm Southern Cross opens Silicon Valley office 29/01/2008. Sydney-based early stage technology venture capital firm Southern Cross Venture Partners has established a new office in Palo Alto, California. The new office will be led by Southern Cross co-founder and managing director John Scull. 
Paine & Partners backs MBO of Capital Z's hedge fund sponsorship business 25/01/2008. San Francisco and New York-based private equity firm Paine & Partners (formerly Fox Paine) has backed an MBO of the hedge fund sponsorship business from Capital Z Investment Partners. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. 
VCM hires Pascal Feucher to head new Paris office 14/01/2008. German private equity fund of funds specialist VCM Capital Management has established a new office in Paris, to be led by managing director Pascal Feucher. 
Ross Gatlin, George Stelling launch mid-market firm Prophet Equity 19/12/2007. Former Bain & Company employees Ross Gatlin and George Stelling have established Prophet Equity, a new firm focused on the mid market, particularly the lower mid market. The Southlake, Texas-based firm's first fund, Prophet Equity I, will be launched in early 2008. It will have a $250m target and hard cap. 
Karen Spilizewski to lead RiverVest's new Ohio office 19/12/2007. Life science venture capital firm RiverVest Venture Partners is to open an office at the Cleveland, Ohio-based BioEnterprise facility, a bioscience technology initiative. The office will be managed by Karen Spilizewski, who is joining RiverVest on a part-time basis as a vice president, as of 1 January 2008. 
Investment bank Allegiance hires John Sloan to start private equity fund 12/12/2007. Dallas-based investment bank Allegiance Capital has appointed former The Thompson Company CEO John R Sloan to the new position of vice chairman. In his new position Sloan will be part of the company's senior leadership team, with responsibility for initiating the company's private equity fund, and handling other complex investment transactions. 
Metalmark to become part of Citi 11/12/2007. Mid-market buy-out firm Metalmark Capital has agreed to become an investment centre within CAI Alternative Investments. 
Seed investment specialist Iveagh teams up with Triple A Partners 06/12/2007. Iveagh, a London-based private investment firm of which the Guinness family is a major shareholder and principal client, has agreed to become a shareholder in Asia Alternative Asset Partners (Triple A Partners), a joint venture between Hans Tiedemann, Paul Smith, Roger Pyrke and CLSA. Iveagh will be responsible for building an investment management team, with a focus on seeding Asian and other emerging markets managers. 
Early stage venture capital firm BlueRun establishes Beijing office 05/12/2007. Early stage venture capital firm BlueRun Ventures has opened a new office in Beijing. The announcement follows the firm's recent appointments of William Qu and Mike Ding in China. 
Wasatch changes name to EPIC Ventures 04/12/2007. US early stage technology venture capital firm Wasatch Venture Fund has renamed itself EPIC Ventures. The name change is meant to reflect the firm's evolution from an Utah-centric firm to a growing regional and national firm. 
Carlyle's Mexico buy-out team announces first exit 21/11/2007. The Carlyle Group has sold portfolio company Hispanic Teleservices Corporation to Teleperformance. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. 
PA Early Stage renames itself Novitas Capital 16/11/2007. US early stage technology and life science venture capital firm PA Early Stage Partners has renamed itself Novitas Capital. 
US firm Vestar opens Munich office, headed by Jens Tonn 15/11/2007. US private equity firm Vestar Capital Partners has opened a further office in Europe. The new Munich office adds to the firm's other locations in Continental European: Paris and Milan. The four-strong German team, headed by Jens Tonn, will further develop the firm's business in the German-speaking region. 
Dutch pension fund ABP in negotiations to team up with Cordares 14/11/2007. ABP and Cordares, two Dutch pension funds, are in talks and could merge next year, creating one of the world's largest pension funds. 
Al Gore joins Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers as partner 13/11/2007. Former US vice president and climate change campaigner Al Gore has been named a partner at venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Gore will be responsible for helping find and fund businesses with the potential to help solve the current climate crisis. 
Gresham creates team dedicated to energy and environmental sector 12/11/2007. UK mid-market buy-out firm Gresham Private Equity has established a dedicated energy and environmental team, headed by partners Andy Marsh and Christian Bruning. 
HarbourVest to list new investment vehicle on Euronext Amsterdam 06/11/2007. Private equity fund of funds manager HarbourVest Partners has announced plans to list HarbourVest Global Private Equity (HVPE), a newly established closed-ended investment company, incorporated in Guernsey, on NYSE Euronext in Amsterdam. The new company will be managed by HarbourVest Advisers, an affiliate of HarbourVest Partners. 
GP Investments opens Mexico office 06/11/2007. GP Investments, the Brazilian buy-out firm that has just closed its latest private equity fund, GP Capital Partners IV, above its $600m target on $1.3bn, has opened a new office in Mexico City, headed by GP partner Márcio Tabatchnik Trigueiro. 
CHAMP Private Equity opens office in Singapore 30/10/2007. Australian-based CHAMP Private Equity is opening a new office in Singapore. The Singapore team will focus on supporting existing CHAMP portfolio companies and on originating and completing mid-market acquisitions in Southeast Asia that can benefit from CHAMP's network in Australia and New Zealand, and from the networks of CHAMP's US affiliate, Castle Harlan. 
Adveq to open office in China 23/10/2007. Private equity fund of funds manager Adveq plans to open an office in Beijing later this year. The new office will be Adveq's fourth - the firm already has operations in Zurich, Frankfurt and New York. The US presence was established in summer 2007.

Draper Fisher Jurvetson, in partnership with Israeli venture firm Tamir Fishman Ventures, has agreed to form joint enterprise DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures. Tamir Fishman Ventures will re-brand as DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures. 
Denham Capital opens London office, headed by Dr Louis van Pletsen 04/10/2007. Energy and commodities-focused private equity firm Denham Capital Management has established a London office. The new office will be led by Dr Louis van Pletsen, who has joined the firm as managing director. 
Swiss firm Partners Group expands investment activities in Italy 28/09/2007. Switzerland-based alternative asset manager Partners Group has teamed up with Italian firm Poli e Associati and other professionals to form Perennius Capital Partners, for which Partners Group will act as exclusive asset manager. Perennius Capital Partners, based in Milan, will offer private market investment products in Italy. 
Octopus Private Equity opens Leeds office 26/09/2007. UK firm Octopus Private Equity has opened its first regional office in Leeds. The new office is headed up by Richard Taylor, who has operated in the region for nearly 15 years. 
ECP, NYPB&T to invest $100m in mid-market environmental companies 25/09/2007. Environmental Capital Partners has teamed up with New York Private Bank & Trust to invest $100m in mid-market green companies. Sectors of particular interest include green consumer products, eco-friendly building materials, alternative energy and industrial environmental services. 
ICG opens New York office, recruits North America-focused investment team 24/09/2007. UK firm Intermediate Capital Group has opened an office in New York and recruited five senior investment executives to work in its new office. The new office is ICG's first in the US, and will be used to provide intermediate capital solutions to the North American market. 
Mubadala to buy 7.5 per cent stake in Carlyle for $1.35bn 20/09/2007. Mubadala Development Company, an investment and development company wholly owned by the government of Abu Dhabi, has agreed to buy a 7.5 per cent stake in The Carlyle Group for $1.35bn. The minority investment includes no associated voting rights and is subject to value-related protective rights. Mubadala has also committed $500m to a new Carlyle fund.
