Quadrangle Group, focused on the media and communications sector, has opened a new office in Hong Kong. Edward Sippel, a managing principal of Quadrangle who has been based in New York, will head the Asian office. Sippel joined Quadrangle in 2007. Prior to that, he was a managing director and partner at TVG Capital Partners, a Hong Kong-based private equity firm focused exclusively on investments in the telecom, media and technology sectors throughout Asia. Before joining TVG at inception, Sippel was with Hong Kong private equity firm The Asian Infrastructure Fund. He previously also worked in Morgan Stanley's Global Communications Group in New York.
Steven Rattner, a managing principal of Quadrangle, said, 'We are very excited to open our Asian headquarters, which will help us expand our capabilities and geographic footprint, while also adding value to our existing investments. We believe that Quadrangle's expertise and strong franchise in media and communications, together with Ed Sippel's decade of Asian private equity experience in those sectors, is a powerful combination that will allow us to take advantage of many exciting opportunities.'
Sippel added, 'With more than ten years of experience in Asia, I know first-hand the tremendous opportunities in this region and in the media and communications sector in particular.'
Quadrangle now has offices in London, Silicon Valley and Hong Kong, in addition to its headquarters in New York. It has approximately $6bn of assets under management.
